Talk to promote better understanding
One of the most enjoyable moments of his working life is when designer Adam Frost is talking to other members of the industry. In October 2007 he joined a well-known line-up of designers and contractors to take part in a joint Association of Professional Landscapers/Society of Garden Designers day.
The aim, for the 200-or-so audience, was to listen and share experiences of where garden designers and landscape contractors have worked well together, and to unearth some of the secrets to a project’s success. Adam presented with international designer David Stevens; Mark Gregory (Landform Consultants) with designer and lecturer Andrew Wilson; and garden designer Andrew Fisher Tomlin with contractor Mark Webb.
Adam says: ‘The event was great, because it gave everyone a chance to really talk about the everyday issues facing both designers and contractors. It can only be a good thing when more people within the industry get together and share their tales of projects that did and didn’t work.’
