May 2007 Press Release - A 'Realistic retreat' wins Chelsea 2007 Gold

A garden designed specifically for a couple living in a busy urban environment has won a prestigious gold medal at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show. Designed by Adam Frost (of Adam Frost Landscapes), 'Realistic Retreat' is an undemanding, beautifully planted and sensitively built space, featuring a stepped water feature, York handmade bricks and a raised wooden lounger.

In the 'City Gardens' category of the show, 'Realistic Retreat' has been designed to give a realistic idea of how a small city garden can look, given good design, considered planting and creative flair. It reflects contemporary taste, but not at the expense of useability, imagination or a love of plants.

This was the first time Adam Frost has designed and built his own garden at Chelsea. "I am really pleased to have been awarded a gold medal – it makes all the effort, time and planning totally worthwhile, for me and the team. The garden looks great and is going down so well with visitors. I hope it gives them practical ideas of how they can make the most of their garden."
