The brief for this large, rural garden was to create a formal space, linking the front and back into three main areas. The design is strong, formal and quite traditional, but the planting is very soft and allows the spaces to be used for relaxing or entertaining. Two primary seating areas were constructed - one near the kitchen, the other near the drawing room. Taxus (yew) hedging has been used throughout the garden as a means of dividing space and keeping visual continuity.
