"We truly believe to design something well you should understand how it is built, the construction gives you your bones to the garden, creating our spaces to use and areas to plant."
Linking House to Garden
Linking the garden to the architecture of the house is often a successful way of visually tying in the two spaces. In this medium-sized scheme, a modern twist was given to the design by using blue engineering bricks to tie in with the blue house bricks but also the slate roof. In addition, a timber deck was created around the existing annexe on the building to give a space for outside sitting and eating. Planting was used to screen out a garage; gravel mulch was specified for the beds; and a timber arbour on the main terrace was used to provide shade from the summer sun.
