Just thought I’d share this one with you (although my wife will probably kill me....).
My wife has awoken to the fact that we’re going through a recession - about 12 months later than most but let’s not worry about detail! Just as I’m thinking about applying for Charitable Status, as all I seem to do is give things away, my wife discovers the meaning of the word thrifty.
She announces that she’s going to sort some stuff out and do a boot sale. Much to my amazement, she actually did this and at 6.00 a.m one Sunday morning the car was loaded up and off she went with my eldest daughter, leaving me at home with the rest of the tribe.
This is the best bit - at about 7.00 a.m she rings me to say that the stall’s set up and she’s had time to go round all the other stalls and has managed to get all the bargains. At this point, I’m a little lost for words, given that the whole point of this enterprise is to actually make some money, not spend it! Anyway, she then tells me that she’s spent £20 on these ‘bargains’ – I’ll leave the next bit of the conversation to your imagination! Actually, to be fair, she did come home in profit from her days work and she’s busy planning the next one so I can’t knock it.
Every day is an adventure in our household….
